Iran ready to participate in Syria’s medicine market

TEHRAN, Aug. 17 (MNA) – Iran's Minister of Health said on Mon. the country has all the necessary conditions to invest in Syria's medicine market and export vaccines to the Arab country.

“We have participated with Syria in many projects; now that the country has been attacked and suffered greatly for the past three years, the need for help is being felt more than ever and the Islamic Republic will spare no efforts in aiding the war-affected country,” said Iran’s Minister of Health Seyyed Hassan Hashemi in a joint press conference with his Syrian counterpart Nizar Yazigi here on Monday.

Hashemi asserted that Syria has a strategic role in the region and Iran could participate in some good investment projects in the sector of medical exports and industry.

“20 pharmaceutical companies in Syria have been devastated in the wake of the recent war and unrest, but the promising fact is that 16 of these companies have so far been reconstructed by the collaboration of Iran and Syria,” said the Iranian minister.

Hashemi further noted that some 400 Syrian students are currently studying medicine in Iranian universities.

“The Syrian Ministry of Health has taken valuable preventive measures especially in the field of polio vaccination; the Razi Vaccine and Serum Research Institute as well as Pasteur Institute of Iran are ready to export various vaccines to Syria and other regional countries,” he said.
